Church of Scotland Adopts Armed Forces Covenant

On 25 May 2017 the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland voted to “Approve and Implement” the Armed Forces Covenant.  A copy of the text of the Covenant is attached here.

The Covenant was presented to the Assembly by the Committee for Chaplains to HM Armed Forces.  The presentation and debate, which lasted for over 50 minutes, included many thoughtful, heartfelt and inspiring statements of support for the Armed Forces and Veterans and can be seen here:

The Covenant includes a proposal to establish Armed Forces and Veterans Champions in each Presbytery and once they are in place, their details will be included on the Veterans Assist website.

The formal signing of the Covenant will take place in the near future.
