Jutland 100 commemorations – South Queensferry – 28th May 2016

If you want to witness part of the commemorations for The Battle of Jutland, get yourself to South Queensferry on Saturday 28th May 2016.

Events - Hawes area.

A Jutland community feel will be established throughout the town but will centre on the Hawes where a large screen will show some recorded Jutland filming from key members of the planning / delivery team including Legion Scotland.

At 1500 the large screen will also show a live streaming of the service from Queensferry Cemetery and there will be a parade of standards and a Bugler from the Band of HM Royal Marines who will take part in the act of remembrance at the Hawes. Legion Scotland volunteers are coordinating this activity.

NOTE – If you would like your Legion Scotland Branch Standard or Association Standard to take part in this service the Standard Bearer will have to be at the Hawes by 1415 and report to the west end security entrance, a form of photographic identification will be required.

About 1600 a Beating Retreat will be conducted by the Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland and this will as always be a spectacle to behold, as part of proceedings and to mark the end of the day the service of ceremonial sunset will be conducted.

NOTE – The large screen will also show the Beating Retreat.

On completion of the Beating Retreat a Jutland 100 Parade, comprising of the Band of HM Royal Marines, Standards, Veterans, Cadets and members of the community will parade along the High Street to the Priory Church where an open air public service will take place. Legion Scotland volunteers are coordinating the parade.
