Annual Salary £41,250 pro rata + Benefits

We are recruiting an exceptional individual to be the Company Secretary. Working a 3-day week (22.5 hours), you will lead on governance and administration of the Charity.  As a member of the Senior Management Teams and an ambassador for the organisation, you will be expected to ensure that activities associated with the role such as networking, meeting with stakeholders and external agencies are carried out in accordance with the ethos of SVR. The benefits package includes company pension, group injury and life insurance cover, generous sick pay, 21 days annual leave (including public holidays) and an Employee Assistance Programme.

Scottish Veterans’ Residences (SVR) is Scotland’s oldest military charity. We were established in 1910 in reaction to the sight of Veterans rough sleeping on the streets of Edinburgh. Today, SVR is a Registered Social Landlord providing high quality, supported accommodation for military Veterans and former members of the Merchant Navy, who are homeless or in need. We provide accommodation for men and women of all ages, from our Residences in Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow. We also provide 45 Scottish Secure Tenancies across the same locations.

Our vision is for all Veterans to be able to live as independently as they are able, in a place they are proud to call home.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake the role of Company Secretary and ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements for the Charity are met.
  • Guide the Chair and the Members of the Governing Body on their responsibilities under the rules and regulations to which they are subject, and how these responsibilities should be discharged.
  • Support the Chair in ensuring Governing Body meetings function efficiently and effectively. In consultation with the Chief Executive, draft agendas and confirm them with the Chair.
