Support Organisations

There are so many organisations covering so many subjects that it is hard to summarise the range of support that is available.  So if you are in need of any help or support, search this section and those in Veterans Support Organisations thoroughly, because there is a very good chance that you will find what you are looking for.  A small number of the Support Organisations are shown below with links to their sites:

Veterans UK

Veterans UK is part of Defence Business Services (DBS) within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and administers the Armed Forces Pension Schemes serving around 900,000 members of the Armed Forces community. It also administers compensation payments for those injured or bereaved through service and provides a package of welfare support for veterans via a national Veterans Welfare Service and veterans helpline facility.

Reading Force supports all families with an Armed Forces connection, including veterans, by providing them with FREE children’s books and special scrapbooks.

Chatting about books and stories and filling in the scrapbook provides bonding time for families at home together, and, using video and telephone calls, connects family members who are unable to be together and/or live far apart. This supports emotional wellbeing and creates positive shared memories.

We particularly welcome veterans to get involved and take part.

This weeks Veterans Scotland Newsletter is now available to read.  As part of this weeks newsletter we cover the release of a major report which outlines homelessness experience of veterans along with several recommendations.  The detailed new report into veterans’ homelessness in Scotland is recommending that every local authority housing department should have an armed forces lead officer, social landlords should prioritise ex-Service personnel and more support should be provided for tenancy sustainment in the private rented sector.
